Ok Valentines Day is nearly upon us and I guarantee you that the closer we get to valentines day the price of everything will go up, this goes for chocolates, flowers, cards, gift baskets.. you name it. Now the idea of giving flowers to your partner, friend, girl friend, boyfriend, mother.. whoever.. has always been popular.

Buying and Sending Flowers Arrangements for Valentines Day, Pros and Cons.

So I want to talk about Buying Flowers online the Pros and Cons and my personal recomendation after receiving some from a particular online flower company. You can see the picture on the left their after they arrived.. They came in a Long Box with a Free Vase and a box of the best tasting Chocolates I have ever had.

There are a number of Advantages to going the route of ordering them online here they are.

- Cheap Flowers but High Quality, Now im not talking about a nasty cheap. I am talking about flower companies being able to offer some of the best deals on bouquets and arrangements because they don’t have the overhead of brick and mortar stores and they want to compete with other online retailers.

-Fast Valentine Day Flower Delivery. These one above took 1 night to arrive they came via fedex. If you have friends, family or even an internet love that is living in another country, the cost involved in sending a gift you have bought and packaged up at home can be quite high. Ordering flowers online from a shop in the same town as your parter, friend or lover is a heck of a lot simpler, Or ordering online and having the company work with a flower shop in the area is fast, convienient and it just makes sense.

- No Distance Boundaries - ok I live in Canada my mother lives in England, so sending flowers using an international florist made sense.. your not confined to brick and mortar shops or just your area for gift ideas.

Disadvantages of Buying Flowers Online

- Ok now some people ask, why an earth would you buy flowers online? won’t they arrive damaged or dead? Now.. I wouldn’t say this really is a disadvantage more of a concern that people might have about looking to buy flowers online. 

Honest I was very interested to see myself how the above flowers would arrive. and to tell you the truth when they first arrived I opened the box, the flowers were in a vase and the roses were covered in  these like ice packs to keep them from going dry but I noticed that some of the flowers look withered, at first I was a little disappointed but then I read on the box that it said ” When your flowers arrive they might look a bit thirsty, You will need to do this , this and this to them ” i.e place them in water, give them flower food that comes with the flowers and give them a few hours.

The Flowers Have Risen from the Dead

ok,… a slight exaggeration  but I am very happy to say those odd few flowers that looked the most withered transformed within a matter of hours, You would have never known that they had looked so parched hours before. Here is a close up of the flowers so you can see.

they are absolutely gorgeous looking and well my wife definately enjoyed getting these flowers.

So If you have a hesitation about the idea of ordering flowers online this valentines. Dont!

Now I cannot vouch for every flower shop online as I haven’t got flowers from them but I will say that grower flowers online retail store did a superb job both in customer service by emailing me a confirmation email of what I had ordered to make sure everything was correct and that it was going to the right address. Secondly they followed up the day before delivery with a tracking number so I could track it right the way to my door. Now how cool is that?

4 Tips For Your Flowers to Last

My wife used to work in a flower shop so she picked up a few things, she has 4 tips for you upon receiving your flowers that I recommend you remember.

1. Cut the Stems that will go into the water at an ANGLE.. dont cut them straight across

2. Put Lukewarm water in the vase, not hot or cold.

3. Put in the Flower Food in the water

4. Take off any of the leaves that are on the stems that would have been in the water, so basically removed the closest to the bottom of the stems, so they are not sitting in the water otherwise according to my wife they let off something that causes the water to change and the flowers to die sooner.

Conclusion

Anyway if your hard pressed for knowing what gift to get this valentinesday you might want to consider going the route of sending flowers online.
