Default The Movie Religulous

So i received an email this morning from someone wanting me to sign a petition against this movie by comedian Bill Meher

Personally I see the whole petition thing as a little bit lame and just the pot calling the kettle black

I had heard about this movie so i did a little bit of research to find out why people are so up in arms about it..

Quite frankly, its just another person provoking people to question what they have been taught. If that is bad.. so be it.

I haven't seen the movie but will probably watch it when it comes out. ( as it will come out, no petition will stop it )

Here is the trailer YouTube - Religulous Trailer - www.LennonAldort.com ( some funny ones in this )

Bill Maher vs. Jesus Christ in 'Religulous' -- who wins? | Gold Derby | Los Angeles Times ( watch this interview )

Anyway.. something to chow on..

The Petition is not so much to stop the movie from showing, but to let them know that people of faith do not have to stand for it. It is not that Maher is trying to make people question their faith, but he goes out of his way to provoke and ridicule people of many faith and their beliefs.

It is such an attack movie on Christians and all people of faith. I know he has a right to free speech, but we also have a right to say that we do not like it. I realize that people will disagree with my perspective and that is OK, but why attack it if that is what I want to believe.

I too received the petition and would encourage all to review it and sign it. Again this is not an attack on Freedom of Speech for I value that dearly, but it is to make a statement that with our Freedom of Speech that we do not like being insulted and attacked.

It is one thing if Bill Maher does not believe in God, but it is another to attack those who do and belittle them and the God they love and respect. He attacks Christianity, Judaism, Muslim and other religions in this movie.

Even if you are not a person of faith, you should not want to allow any group to be attacked and belittle by such hate.

Most christians belittle and ridicule other faiths and people who dont believe. Let get this in the right perspective here mate.

So its to be expected that they will be treated the same

heck even Jesus is meant to have said.. Judge not or you will be judged.. basically a principle.

If your care to dish it out.. Expect to get it back..

Religions are just getting it back

Who gives a flying rats ass about if people wont stand for it.. No one honestly cares about what people of faith are offended about.. as most people of these types of faith have pointed their long judgemental finger at society for so long..

Its not long before the Boomrang will come back..

Maher is simply getting people to think about what they have been taught. While I believe there will be a bit of GOING OVERBOARD on his part.... this is no different than people of faith when they GO OVER BOARD.

So get over it..

If you dont want more movies and books being made by such people.. its simple.. Keep your own beliefs to yourself

Christianity is one among many religions that dont make a difference.. they only spread IN-Difference.

How would you have felt if a petition went around for that lamentable piece of rubbish that Ben Stein produced, Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed?

How come he is allowed, as a YEC, to attack established scientific results and research? Especially when all he has to back it up is a book written by nomadic bronze age herdmens who didn't understand the first principles of the world around them?

So it is okay for a theist to belittle basic scientific research and non-believers, but when an atheist does the same it becomes petition signing times? Sounds like the old book burning and witch hunts updated to the 20th century.

If you want respect then earn it. Attacking other beliefs and then crying respect when it is done back to you is not earning respect. As JM mentioned Pot, Kettle and Black.

Well I finally saw the movie Religulous and what a funny movie.

Weldone Maher,

What a great example of the way people are treated when they begin to question, and also some nice examples showing how little people know about their own faith

Sure I can see why some would want to label it hate, yet I think its like a boomarang.. your going to get back what you throw out. Over history... religions haven't exactly kept their beliefs to themselves.. and that is ok with them.. yet some how challenging those beliefs and bringing them into question isn't?

The part I thought was typical and yet funny was when he dropped in on a truck stop chapel, and began asking questions.

One guy said " I dont like the way this documentary is going, you start disputing my God and you've got a problem" and then the guy walked out.

To which maher says " I'm just asking some questions " lol

The thing is, its not God that is being disputed here.. so much but its the B.S that has been shoveled by man through religious teachings

The other part I thought was humourous was when he is at the Vatican and got kicked out and he got chatting to an ex vatican priest.. that conversation was hilarious.

Weldone Bill, while it may have tipped the sacred cow a bit too much in some areas, religion has done its own share of cow tipping, so i guess it balances things out.

It was interesting to hear how the Ex-Mormons were treated after leaving too. Interesting pattern that seems to happen even in christianity.
