It really bothers me when people try to paint the Bible as a science book. In doing so, they have to twist the meanings of some passages and thereby lose the actual value of those passages. It also shows a certain desperation to cling to absolute literal interpretations that in my humble opinion were not intended by the authors. The message of 2Peter 3:8 is not what is claimed in this post about science at all. The message of this passage when taken in context to the surrounding text is that God's clock does not run by our timepieces. It's about patience and perseverance. It's all about the eternity of God and shortness of human life and the impatience of human expectations.
