Default Washing of the diciples feet?

What do people here believe why Jesus washed the feet of His disciples? What purpose do you think this act by the Son of God?
Prior to the last supper.

Peace and Light

Peter

Washing your guests' feet was common practice, and the basic greeting upon entry to any house. Jesus wasn't special, he was merely observing the norms of the time.

Where did you get that information? Your source is wrong.
The proper etiquette for a host was to arrange for the washing of his guests’ feet - and this disagreeable task was the duty of the lowliest servant in the household. It was not the host who performed this foot washing. This explains Peter’s exclamation that “you shall never wash my feet!”. It was contrary to the norms of the times for the Master to perform this lowly duty. The norm would have been for Jesus to instruct some other person to wash their feet.

Blessings

It wasn't in Jesus' house, nor did he have any servants to command.

He had 12 disciples and several women were around who often acted as servants for the traveling band. All of them were lower in the pecking order. He could have asked any one of them. They did after all call Him Master.

Blessings
