I understand what you're saying Jeff. Honestly, I don't know if He would read them or not. What bothers me is when I see people jumping all over it who haven't the slightest idea of what's actually in the books. They're just going on what someone else told them. It's that kind of judgement that made me want to check it out in the first place. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. To me, Harry Potter is no different than anything else on TV. We should be careful of everything we let our minds indulge in. Everything.

Oh, I agree completely. What I was trying to say is that there is nothing in Harry Potter that makes it more evil than some of the more popular movies/TV shows on the air, such as...

24
Smallville
Heroes
Prison Break
Flash Gordon
Battlestar Galactica
Stargate SG1
Stargate Atlantis
Star Trek
Star Wars
...and so on (ewwww... most of my fav shows! )

No matter where you look, if you're looking at something other than the Bible itself, you WILL be indulging in "unprofitable" entertainment. My point was that it's not so much the content of Harry Potter that makes it so bad, but rather the TARGET AUDIENCE. It just is not age-appropriate, magic or no magic. While the scripting is easy enough for a third grader to read, the subject matter and themes are MUCH more mature than what is appropriate for the target audience---young, impressionable kids.

I do not judge anyone who wants to watch such wordly films - believe me. That is their choice. I am reminded of Proverbs 4:10-19. I do not believe we need to watch films to see how bad they are. I would not go into a place of sin, just to say, "well I have been there and it IS bad!" We are led by the Spirit.

Amen!!

Also, I am not going to say something is bad and tell others it is just because others tell me it is.

I often wonder how many Christians take up "the fight of faith" with such things as HP, Walmart supporting gays, and the countless other things that the world does. How much time is devoted fighting these things??? In my opinion it is merely a distraction from the enemy to keep us from what we should be doing... winning the lost.

I agree with you. We won 93 people in one evening to the Lord last Saturday. But one can also win people to the Lord in such places as among homosexuals, in Walmarts and talking to people who watch trashy films such as Harry Potter.
