GoldHorse, I understand what you're saying and for the most part I agree with you. I think that it's a bit harsh to say that non-Biblical tradition has "no Spiritual value" at all, though. When I used to study for school, I used to have a tradition of having a bowl of popcorn and a diet Coke nearby for me to munch on when I got stuck on something. The popcorn and soda had no study value at all, but they did have value as being an aid to relaxing and understanding what I was reading and trying to accomplish.

I'm not saying that the two situations are the same, but they are similar. When faced with things that are difficult to comprehend people need something to give them comfort and a "safe" place to retreat to, especially when confronted with the Mysteries that faith provides.

Hi Hollysmum, It would take a book to explain the very large gulf between the Roman Catholic church and the True Christian Church. Might I suggest a book called, "A Woman Rides the Beast" by Dave Hunt. This book produces fact backed up by Scripture and historical documents. Beware it will shock you!

Well, I agree alot of Catholicism relies on tradition (particularly their elaborate liturgy) rather than Scripture. What I feel is worse though is the way they tend to just 'let the priests take care of it' and don't encourage a personal relationship with Jesus.

Unfortunately, there are many Protestant denominations that suffer from the same problem. For example, some Baptists preach water baptism as a necessary work fro Salvation.

That's the sad part of Christianity.- There are over 145,000 different denominations on the earth at present. All believe in the trinity etc. but then go off into legalism. Jesus' prayer to His Father was "Father let us be ONE" We have a long way to go!
