Default Buddhist Books in Hotel Rooms

Many hotel guests expect to find a Bible in their room. They may be surprised to find an additional book on Buddhist meditation in some German hotels.
"The books on Buddha have been given to us free of charge by a Japanese organization," Ulrike Herrmann of the InterCity Hotel in Stuttgart told the evangelical new agency "idea". The management would also place copies of the Koran in hotel rooms, if they were on offer, she said.
The hotel management would exercise caution, however, with brochures provided by Scientology. The organization is monitored in some federal states by agencies for the protection of the constitution.
The German branch of the Gideon association, which places Bibles in hotel rooms, is not unduly worried by the competition. "The living word is more attractive than a dead book," commented Johannes Wendel, Gideon director for Germany.
Last year German Gideons placed 765,000 New Testaments in hotels, hospitals and medical consulting rooms

What an excellent idea.

I'll have to check to see what hotel chain this is. Maybe they'll agree to have a chapter or two of 'The God Delusion' on the bedside table as well!

And TGD would go nicely with a copy of the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (for recent atheist arrivals on this forum, google Flying Spaghetti Monster sometime, it's good fun). In case anyone is wondering how an atheist book like TGD can go together with any scripture, the answer is simple. The FSM is the almighty deity that created the earth, life on earth and the universe around it, but He is not vain. He is quite ok with it if people don't believe in Him. So Pastafarianism (the religion of the FSM) and atheism go together without any problem.

I think it would be great to go into a hotel room and find a little library of religious books! I've read the Bible so I would like to have other books to read when I fiinish the ones I brought with me!

I'd rather they just scrap the whole idea of putting religious books in hotel rooms. Replace them with Neil Gaiman books or the best of Poe.

After this more and more religious books will have to be included so as not to make any religions feel left out, by the end you'll have a library in every hotel room
