I do think there’s a whole lot of “faking it” out there. Now I’ll tell you something that I haven’t told many people at all, ever.
I have the gifts of hospitality and encouragement. The house we live in isn’t my house, it’s a haven for people who need help; maybe a glass of water or a cup of coffee, a place to stay for a few days, a meal or a bag of groceries. That all comes naturally and I just know what needs offered and when it needs offered.
I’ve also been used by the Holy Spirit over the years in ways that just make me feel as though I’m truly alive for the first time in my life. Like the nicely dressed corporate-type woman on the elevator who had so much hurt coming off of her that I actually hurt emotionally standing next to her. When the other passengers got out of the car, I looked at her and out of nowhere said, “It will get better. You don’t believe it but it will. And your family needs you. You are beautiful and you are loved.” Her jaw dropped open and she started to cry. The door opened on my floor and I got out. I’ve never seen her again.
The man I was walking behind down a hospital corridor. He had a “mole” on the back of his neck. He turned around and asked me if I knew where a certain section of the hospital was. When I saw his face, I knew he was in big trouble, that the mole wasn’t just a mole, it was cancerous and he needed help right away. I’m not a doctor – how did I know that? I asked him if he was going to an appointment with a doctor. He told me no, he was visiting a family member. Out of the blue, out of my mouth comes a, “Please go see your family physician about the mole on your neck. You must get it seen about.” He looked at me as though I had lost my mind but told me he’d been thinking about a check up recently anyway and the mole seemed to have grown a bit over the course of time, so yea, he’d give the doc a call when he got home. He thanked me. I’ve never seen him again, he was a total stranger.
Or my son who was walking down the street with me. A couple in their twenties was walking towards us. My son excused himself and walked over to the couple. I thought he knew them. He looked directly at the female and said, “You cannot do this. At least not without telling the father and allowing him to have a say in what happens. He DOES want to marry you and you WILL be happy. But you cannot abort the baby.”
The guy looked at my son, looked at the female, looked at me. The female started crying after a minute of sheer stupefaction. The guy looked at the female and asked her if she was pregnant. She nodded yes. She looked at my son and asked, “How did you know? I just did the test this morning.” It turns out this was a brother and sister just out for a walk. The sister was trying to gather her courage up to tell her brother and ask his advice. My son had no idea who either of them were, he’d never seen them before.
So, having said all that, yes I believe in the Holy Spirit and the gifts He gives. Yep – I surely, surely do.

If you have ever TRULY read my posts in regard to the gifts of the Holy Spirit, Vh, then you would know that the abilities you refer to above are EXACTLY those to which I agree ARE scriptural. Thanks, by the way, for sharing those things with us.

No, Vh ...that IS NOT being slain-in-the-Spirit ...not even close. Being slain-in-the-Spirit is a Pentecostal Movement practice that involves one being 'struck down' by a minister in front of every other member of the congregation. The minister brings down his hand sharply as if zapping that person with the Holy Spirit. They then fall backwards in a faint into the arms of a 'catcher' who lowers them to the ground. They may lie there for a while - sometimes a long while - probably twitching and gyrating as though having an epileptic seizure. Then they get up and return to their seats. Generally, the same people get up in church every week to perform the same procedure.
Is this you, Vh?
Pentecostal 'tongues', of course, have already been discussed at length. But, in a nutshell, members of the congregation may suddenly start to make 'gurgling' sounds in their throats. Then they begin to 'speak' or at least utter sounds that are nondescript. Some might call it 'babble' but others might get offended by that word. In any event, this is known as 'Pentecostal tongues' and this deviates so far from actual scripture that many cannot take it seriously.
Is this you, Vh?
The 'Toronto Blessing' or 'holy laughter' occurs when someone, supposedly filled with the Holy Spirit, starts giggling for no apparent reason. They generally fall to the ground so that they can roll around and gyrate and, again, behave in a manner reminiscent to an epileptic.
Is this you, Vh?
Well, if it isn't then Jeff says that you are not born again. ARE you born again, Vh? You sure sound like it to me because you really DO seem to have the 'genuine' gifts of the Holy Spirit.

That's rather harsh. You don't even know what we're talking about here and yet you say that to me. Jeff is the one you should be saying that to, not me. But then, I don't wield the power on the board that Jeff does, do I?
One more time ...you NEED to either participate in these Pentecostal practices or, at the minimum, you have to BELIEVE in them to be a born-again Christian according to Jeff.
