I come because I'm bored and I have nothing better to do. That choice wasn't up there.

For spiritual companionship - that isn't there either

Originally, in my first incarnation, because a member posted some insanely stupid rubbish concerning the banana argument as proof of God.
Secondly because I had noticed that the member list had dropped somewhat and I wondered what had happened. I stick with it because I find it a more fun place to be and easier to debate with theists before the change. More open and all the YEC seemed to have vanished.

Smile What am I doing here?

I'm here to voice a view opposing the intellectually discouraging aspects of religion and its encroachment into areas of society. I realize that that can have the effect of annoying. That is however not the goal behind it.
And as an alternative to religious explanations for some things, I like to voice scientific answers. Or when science has none (yet) to point out that that is no reason to flee into 'goddunnit'.

And it can also be a funny place.

And arguments I am unfamiliar with sometimes make me read up on things. That can make me do some thinking, and certainly makes me expand my knowledge of certain things.

When in the past some of my Flying Spaghetti Monster buddies were up to mischief I have sometimes joined in a little. But I wouldn't say I have a hidden agenda.

Peter

Frederick, If you're serious about that then I highly recommend the forum at Bible dot org. It's much better than here. Thanks.

Just a cool place to say what ya think. Personally I like to hear the opposing view on my belief, when it's respectful and honest.

Blessings
