Default When video games get in the way of God

It is so easy to spend your life devoted to the computer/xbox/gamecube

God gets jealous when we deovte more time towards these false idols then we ever would with Him

When is it ok to play video games?

Video games can control your emotions aswell.

Ive seen many people get ANGRY while playing halo =P and other such games

if you spend to much time within these things you can easily get disstracted from what God is doing in your life.

Amen Detop! I completely agree. I have seen the sweetest and kindest young children become angry and aggressive playing these things, and I am very strict indeed as to what my ten year old son can play - these games are compulsive, addictive, and some of them are so violent it is unbelievable. We don't have XBox or Play Station, and my son plays games on safe sites on the computer, reads books, and plays chess. He doesn't blow up cars in his imagination, or run around shooting things.

Jesus said if we sin in our hearts it is a sin. He was talking about lust, but the same would hold true for any sin. A game which encourages murderous thoughts encourages us to think sinfully, and Christians need to be careful what they "play."

I notice on another thread that you say you are young. Well, I don't know your age, but you write more sensibly than most teenagers I know - thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Since this is a bit any electronic games I would like to put forward the suggestion that you (or daughters kiddy) try playing dungeons and dragons, it brings people together, they use their imagination and at its core its mainly about story telling.

I agree that Video Games are fine in moderation unless they insult the Lord.
But think about what you said, "All Things", Killing, stealing are they fine in moderation? no.
(not trying to lash out)
God Bless

Dungeons and Dragons is demonic and should not be touched by any Christian. The same as any war game or anything that involves klling.

The way i ever got involved with church was with some good old halo

the story go like

I was the regular little punk atheist kid, reading my big bang and evolution books, when my family decides to move to this new city and they decide i need to go to a youth group so i am literaly forced to go

eventually i noticed some kids playing halo before it started and i wanted to make some friends so i connected to them through halo (i had issues with building relationships) and i truely think halo helped bring me to christ

=P
