Default Awesome God of the Bible

I thought I'd start this topics and see how far it goes...

I believe we serve an Awesome God

What descriptive words do you have for Him?

I'll start with

Indescribable!

LOL! Dave, I think our non-theist friends will get a chuckle out of that!

For me, God has been very patient, kind, and loving....though He has corrected me quite sternly on way too many occasions, He has never failed to amaze me with His wisdom in working out situations, that I felt would have terrible results, in the most wonderful way.
I've never felt like I have served Him....more like He is serving me by guiding my stumbling self along, patiently picking me up and brushing me off on the way.

Thanks for saying 'patient, kind, and loving'. I had seen the thread but felt it difficult to come up with a one word response that would capture it all. So now that you've used three, I feel ok to do so as well.

Picking three words, I would say

'comforting' for some

'restricting' for others

'imaginary' for all

greets,
Peter

I would have to say ... conflicting.

And yet you've managed to describe him in the same post... twice if you count "indescribable".

There is no way we can describe God. We can describe His energies, the part of Him that interacts with us. This is the Holy Ghost. God Himself is beyond our comprehension. The holy Ghost is often described as fire. Not literal fire, but something that causes pain in much the same way fire does. Not to everyone of course, mainly to those furthest away from Him spiritually. Look how the atheist recoils at the mention of God, almost as if personally wounded. To those far from Him, the Holy Ghost feels the same way as placing frozen hands under lukewarm water. To the person whose hands are already warmed, the water feels like room temperature. To the person who was out throwing snowballs with bare hands for a few hours, it feels boiling hot! So too it is with the Holy Spirit.

But this is only one way His Holy Energies appear to us, and the more in tune we are with that energy, the more we recognize it for what it is.

Blessings
