It really bothers me when people try to paint the Bible as a science book. In doing so, they have to twist the meanings of some passages and thereby lose the actual value of those passages. It also shows a certain desperation to cling to absolute literal interpretations that in my humble opinion were not intended by the authors. Just like any parable, the greatest value of the Genesis stories are not in their historical aspects as much as it is in the overall meaning of the stories. The fact that some of them may be historically true (or untrue) is utterly beside the point.
The message of 2Peter 3:8 is not what is claimed in this post about science at all. The message of this passage when taken in context to the surrounding text is that God's clock does not run by our timepieces. It's about patience and perseverance. It's all about the eternity of God and shortness of human life and the impatience of human expectations. Blessings

It is recognizing that in all things, there is both.. distinguishing what is true when it comes to matters of God and the unseen Will Always remain only Individual choice, the only want that can substantiate it.. is God And as long as that passes through mans lips, fingers and actions it will always been debated, agreed, disagreed upon.

Life is not the body, life is that which is eternal and always have been, spirit Our life is Gods life, one in the same, yet christianity has divided it up as US and God, God and US which plays nicely into the story of seperation, the need for believe, the need that God has ..... all of which contradict the very concept of ' God '

amithe1, you're either trying to pull a fast one or you have a very poor grasp of maths. Even a cursory run through the equations that you give indicate that the bigger the number on the left of the original equation (i.e. 1000 years converted to days) the closer the result gets to to v. At one point you could have this: v² = 1- (1/365250)² x c² Now as you can see, the large number squared (days in one thousand years)is divided into 1 to give an incredibly small figure, which is then subtracted from 1 to give a figure very close indeed to 1. The higher the number of days, the closer to 1 that part of the equation becomes. So v gets closer to c as the number of days increases. Any large discrepancy (hours to years, minutes to millenium) will give the same result. QED. I'd take your equations back to whoever gave them to you and slap him. He made you look like an idiot. |
