Default Question

Perhaps I should have asked this before now, but in cruising through threads here just now, I've noticed a couple of comments that made me curious, if not confused. In one place someone said there weren't actually many Christians in this forum nowadays and in another place I saw someone I assumed was a Christian, because they are a moderator, disagree about a major tenet (at least to me) of Biblical teaching.

So what kind of place is this "nowadays" and are there more Christians here or what? In other words, introduce yerself! (please*)

*polite to a fault

Hi Angel fire

And welcome, I personally believe that we all have an ingrain longing for God, there are some here I believe that do not recognise this as yet, but we are all also on a spiritual journey.
As to our perceptions of the Bible contents, I think many of us see things in the Bible and elsewhere, in our own way, which is why many possibly come here to put their thoughts forward, on the way they see things, sometimes I think people would like to class me differently to what I call myself, but as I love Jesus, I call myself a Christian after Him!
As to major tenet of Biblical teaching that you have, discuss it here with others, you will probably find more agree with you than go against your thoughts, just try not to take some peoples opinions too heart, as they I believe also believe that their path is the right one.
Many will also change in a twinkling of a eye!

When Jesus left the disciples they were amongst more of those who had little knowledge of our Lord, than themselves, and yet through them, they were the leaven, they went forth and multiplied, and gave the Word of Jesus to many, and as with the yeast in bread it rose to what it is today, I feel very lonely here as I have such strong opinions in what I believe to be the truth, God is Truth, and I am just a seeker after that Truth.
You should and I am sure you will you will have more support than I have here.

Peace and Light

Peter

Hi NCangelfire.

I am a Christian.

I believe that God sent His only Son to earth to die for us that we who believe in Him might live forever with Him.

I believe that the Bible is Gods Holy Word.

I believe that Jesus is the only way to the Father.

I believe that we are saved by Grace and not by works.

I believe that we should continue to do good deeds as this is Christly.

I think that you'll find that, among the more verbal posters at least, the majority do fall into the general category of "Christian", although there are several different flavours (if that is the right word) of Christian here. Other than that there are a few regular atheists (of which I used to be one, but I've been working a lot recently so I've been reduced to occasional lurking) and there used to be a few members of other religions around, but I haven't seen them lately.

Overall, although we do get a little heated from time to time, it is a very friendly place and I'm sure you'll like us if you give us a chance.

NCAngelfire,

Hi, I'm a Christian, I have been for twenty years now, and I am considered a liberal Christian by some, and a fundamentalist by others. I believe all Christians, despite differences in doctrine are Christian, and we are one body, though clearly different parts. I believe that other faiths have truths, but in Jesus we find THE Truth. I also believe completely in what is quoted in my signature.

Welcome to the forum, this is a nice place, it is more open to many different thoughts than other forums I visit. I would say this may be the best one for being able to say what you really think. It is also one that sometimes asks you to think about what you believe, and I personally like that.

Blessings

Thanks everyone! I do like the diversity here because it makes this place less "stuffy" and I use the word "flavors" also to describe different kinds of Christians and churches.

Last question, are the posters here mostly from the US with scattered posters from across the globe or 50/50-ish?

Thanks again for the welcome!

NCAngelfire,

I'm a Yankee. Born in Pittsburgh Pa, live in Ohio. I was very nearly a Charlotte NC migrant a couple of years ago, but I decided not to take the job offer.

Blessings

Hahahah! Another "Yankee" would be right at home here at this point! *ROFL* Let me know if you decide to make the move as I am a real estate broker here in NC!

(Soon to be an ex-RE broker if the market doesn't improve! *LOL*)
