Once REVIEW: What a great movie. Totally not your regular hollywood style movie. Its filmed so different, the way its filmed is so raw. The film was recommended to my wife and I by some friends. We just finished watching it and what first started as being a movie that I thought was going to not interest me, kept my attention and held me pretty much capitivated through the entire 86 mins. Its out on dvd right now and I would highly recommend to people to go down to their local blockbusters, rogers or through the netflix account and rent it out.
Im still not sure what it is about the movie that I like. The story starts off based in Ireland with Glen Hansard who is actually the frontman of The Frames indie rock band. He plays a guy who is a street muscian who meets a girl from the Czech Republic. They bond over their love for music. He plays guitar and she plays piano.
The film revolves around their relationship and the baggage that both of them have from past relationships. His songs are full of painful breakup and she is a mother of a husband she left behind in her country.
The filming honestly you would think was done by someone on a camcorder, yet something about its simplicity just grabs your attention.
Its a real everyday movie directed by John Carney who directed On the Edge and playes the bass in The Frames
The songs, Minds made Up and Falling Slowly are just classic songs..
- Go rent it, seriously you may enjoy it!
