The Go Center’s Mobilization Area Matches Students, Their Gifts With Ministries
The Passion 06 Go Center offers students resources to challenge and change their lives. Comprised of Mobilization, the 268Store, Graffiti Room, Renown and Kneel, the Go Center is the place where students can connect with God’s global purpose, obtain music and book resources, and meet with friends.
“Our hope is to get into students’ hearts the desire to worship God with their whole lives – so that it’s not just lip service, but it becomes a lifestyle,†says Emily Vogeltanz, Passion 06 Go Center Team Leader. “Particularly in the Mobilization area, we want to equip students with organizations that can connect them to what God is doing around the world, since that will ultimately bring a louder anthem for God’s renown.†Much like Passion 05, Mobilization in the Go Center is open to students that desire to connect with mission agencies, ministries and seminaries. “Each year we invite 50 agencies that we feel best connect to what students’ hearts and desires are, and do a great job mobilizing students.
We have a narrow focus, and that is to encourage students to do cross cultural missions, whether that’s in the U.S. or going overseas,†says Vogeltanz. To ensure students’ gifts and talents are well matched, guides meet students as they enter Mobilization, get to know the students and guide them through the area to connect them with a ministry that fits. “Every agency that exhibits at Passion sends one or two people to serve as guides, so we have about 100 guides. These guides train and learn about every ministry represented, so when a student walks in, the guide can point them in the direction of a ministry that fits the student, even if it’s not their own.†The Go Center is located in the exhibit hall of the Nashville Convention Center. In addition to Mobilization, the Go Center has multiple areas for worship and resources available to students:
The 268Store: Music from Passion 06 lead worshipers, Community Group leaders and Late Night bands, along with audio messages from General and Breakout sessions.
Graffiti: An area available where students can express their Passion experience through art, written prayer and declarations.
Kneel: A four-day, 24-hour prayer journey in which students set aside one hour to pray for the conference, campuses and the world.
Renown: A visual history of the Passion Movement through art, imagery and graphics that tells the story of Passion from its inception to today.
Passion 06 opened Monday at the Gaylord Entertainment Center (GEC) in downtown Nashville at full conference capacity with 18,000 in attendance and students representing all 50 states, 20 countries. Passion 06 is a four-day indoor gathering for college students and is being led by renowned speakers Louie Giglio, John Piper and Beth Moore, among others, as well as artist-worshipers Chris Tomlin, David Crowder Band, Charlie Hall, Matt Redman, Shane and Shane, Nathan and Christy Nockels, and more. The unique purpose of Passion is to gather college students from campuses and churches across the nation, uniting them across ministry and denominational lines to seek the face of God together in worship and prayer. Affirming and valuing the work of local churches and campus ministries, Passion seeks to foster unity and connectivity among them, encouraging them to draw strength and encouragement from each other, resulting in a louder anthem of God’s renown.
