Your Grace is Enough Chords and Words

Next to Indescribable and Holy is the Lord on the album arriving this song Your Grace is Enough by Chris Tomlin is a Favourite of mine and done right it could go over very well in churches, so here are the lyrics and tab

The song is in the Key of A it is capoed for the Acoustic and Electric Parts. This song was originally written by a different worship leader called Matt Maher. I would love to know if it was originally played by matt the same way before Chris and his Band began playing it.

Tablature – Fingering for playing the Chords

G – 300033
G/B – 020030
C2 – 030030
Em7 – 022030
D/F# – 200232  ( simple way to do this is just curl thumb over for the F# )
Dsus – 000233

Word of Advice: When you do the Acoustic Parts on the verses.. I would slightly Palm mute your playing, Im not sure but it sounds like the acoustic has a slight delay on it mixed with the slight palm muting, gives that chuggy feeling on the verses and then playing all out on the chorus parts. Acoustically the process is simple for playing but hearing the cd, there is a lot going on, if you have the chance to see them do this live it would make it easier lol.. Main thing is have fun!

This song really has some dynamics to it, It builds in some areas and drops in other areas.. like on the 3rd time he sings the prechorus. where you have just the electrics doing a small riff and then on the end of the prechorus then you hear the acoustic building on the em7, D and C .. then the electric drops out and just the acoustic is going.. with almost a mexican chug to it.. thats what im on about almost a delay and slight palm mute..  he sings the chorus the 1 time then as he gets to the part where he sings ” enough for me ” the electric comes in and does the octaves.. ah.. just so sweet!..

Electric Guitar Parts – When you try doing the fast bit at the beginning  just try your best to listen to the song on the cd and play along. The notes are all relative to the Capos position. So because it is on Capo 2 even though your playing 8 your actually playing fret 10. Play around with your pedals to get the sound right. He maybe using a fender on this to get that more twangy lighter sound vs the gibson which would likely sound harder.

Matt Maher plays it differently. Chris added some different lyrics to the verse and the chorus and also changed some of the chords around, but mostly the same feel. When Matt plays the song live he uses his own lyrics and the lyrics and chord progression of Chris’s version. Both are good. Check out Matt Maher on http://www.spiritandsong.com

Matt Maher actually plays it in the key of F (capo 1)

Here’s a video of him performing the song at my school last october. enjoy!

Matt Maher is actually the orginial author of the song, and he mended it for Chris.
MAtt plays to different version, one on “welcome to Life”, and one on the older album “empty and beautiful”, which is closer to the Chris Tomlin version.
