Kathryn Scott – Satisfy

kssatisfySatisfy Kathryn Scott ( Vertical/Integrity)

For the most part people will know Kathryn Scott from her songs she has written. Most churches sing the song ” Hungry ” ( Falling on my Knees ) or ” Breathe” which was written by Marie Barnett. She has written some truly unique, raw, powerful and yet Intimate songs. She has a voice that seems to come from no where.. It has some ummph behind it and a slightly raspy almost reminiscent of the singer alannah myles on the song Black Velvet.  It has almost a Southern Style and Strength to it.

Kathryn Scott originates from Northern Ireland, where there seems to be quite a flow of talented song writers emerging such as David Gate and Eoghan Heaslip. She and her husband are pastors of causeway Coast Vineyard church. Her latest album is one of those albums you just cant seem to take out of your cd player. It has songs that ushers you into his presence like " You’re Good Lord " and " Heaven is our Home " and then songs that literally have you on your knees weeping before God. Songs like " Breathe on me Now ", " Hungry " and the one that literally breaks me everytime I hear it. " Search me know me "

” Search me, know me
Try me and see
Every worthless affection hidden in me
All I’m asking for is that You’d cleanse me, Lord

Create in me a heart that’s clean
Conquer the power of secret shame
Come wash away the guilty stain of all my sin

Clothe me in robes of righteousness
Cover my nakedness with grace
All of my life before You now I humbly bring “

Listen to a few samples of her Songs.

1. Heaven Is Our Home [mp3]
2. Blessed Be Your Name [mp3]  ( Written by Matt Redman )
3. Breathe On Me Now [mp3]

Satisfy was recorded live at portstewart Presbyterian Church in Northern Ireland She has 12 songs on the album 7 are her own the others are written by various artists such as Mercy Me, Matt Redman and Marie Barnett.

The songs I would recommend listening to are Breathe on me Now, Hungry and Your Good Lord. There is some terrific guitar work on this album both with rhythm and solos. While there are many upbeat songs for strong praise time on this album, you should be able to find this an album that you can put on and just get lost in Gods Prescence.

Some say she sounds like Darlene Zschech but I think that couldn’t be more further from the truth. Even though Darlene has an extremely good voice. The style of music and distinction between their voices is like Night and Day. Both are extremely good artists. If you want some comparison I guess you could say shes similar to Rebecca St. James in music style.

We look forward to seeing what new songs Kathryn Scott writes and fills the churches with.
