    The “Strange Intro Chord” you’re talking about is an Augmented chord….
    D aug

    It just means basically raise the 5th degree of the chord by a semitone :)

    I think what the other Adam meant was that the “strange chord” is D aug, not the “strange intro chord.” The “strange intro chord” is D6/E.

    The “strange chord” can be viewed as D aug, but I think a better characterization is to call it Gm/Bb.

    Actually, I changed my mind, I think it is more of a D aug.

    If you transpose it into different keys, you can see that the root augmented works better than the 4th made minor. That’s why I agree that it is a D aug.
